1952 Oldsmobile Super 88 Convertible

1952 Oldsmobile Super 88 Convertible
49,500.00 USD
1952 Oldsmobile Super 88 Convertible RM Auctions Automobiles of Amelia Island Collector Car Auction Amelia Island, Florida March 13, 2009 AUCTION RESULTS: Lot 147 - Sold at a price of $49,500 160 bhp, 303 cu. in. V8 engine, four-barrel carburetor, Hydra-Matic transmission, independent front and solid rear axle with leaf spring rear suspension, four-wheel drum brakes. Wheelbase: 120" When the previous owner purchased the 1952 Oldsmobile Super 88 presented here, it had recently been treated to an extensive cosmetic restoration. Needing only minor mechanical attention to bring its performance up to par with its visual condition, it was given a tune up, the four-barrel carburetor was rebuilt, and the front brake cylinders were replaced. Mr. O'Quinn acquired the car in 2007, and it has been maintained in his collection ever since. The lovely mint green exterior finish is complemented by a black top with dark red piping to match the interior upholstery. The car presents very well and is in excellent condition throughout. The interior is very nice, devoid of major imperfections in the leather, dash or carpets. Panel fit is good, and the engine compartment was fully restored as well and is period correct in appearance. The chrome is of the same high-point caliber, and the odometer currently reads 44,040 miles. American convertibles of the 1950s continue to be strong collector cars for countless reasons, and for Oldsmobile in particular, the advent and widespread use of the Rocket V8 engine has made their convertibles all the more desirable. Equipped with GM's Hydra-Matic automatic transmission, this wonderful open car is a rolling showcase of 1950s innovation.

1954 Oldsmobile Super 88 Convertible

1954 Oldsmobile Super 88 Convertible
57,750.00 USD
1954 Oldsmobile Super 88 Convertible RM Auctions Automobiles of Amelia Island Collector Car Auction Amelia Island, Florida March 13, 2010 AUCTION RESULTS: Lot 174 - Sold at a price of $57,750 185 bhp, 324 cu. in. overhead valve V8 engine, Hydra-Matic four-speed automatic transmission, coil spring independent front suspension, live rear axle with semi-elliptic leaf springs, four-wheel hydraulic drum brakes. Wheelbase: 122" Spectacular in navy blue, this Oldsmobile Super 88 has exceptional paint, with no dings, chips or orange peel and a very good shine. Panel and door fits are excellent, and all the chrome is in good shape, inside and out. The top and interior are done in matching navy blue, and the seats look like they've never seen a passenger. In fact, the stitching of the leather is very straight. The dashboard has a leather pad, similarly as new. Carpets are of the proper type, and door panels are very nice, showing no hint of wear or sag. The chassis has been restored, but to driver quality. Similarly, the engine compartment is painted but not to show standards. The car is equipped with radio and dual exhausts. An excellent example of Oldsmobile's "factory hot rod," it is the rarest of 1954 body styles. With just 6,452 built, they are not frequently seen in the collector community today.
