At the end of World War II, American's were eager to get behind the wheel of a new car, any new car. Prior to the start of hostilities, one of the sharpest looking vehicles on the road had been the Continental by Lincoln; a hand-crafted beauty considered a classic from the very start. The champion of this model had been Edsel B. Ford, who, sadly passed away in 1943. This car was a tribute to his vision of the future and appreciation for fine art and styling in the automotive world. Continentals had been introduced during the 1940 model year and for 1942 all new sheet metal and styling had been seen. In order to get into production as quickly as possible the 1946 editions featured an attractive minor facelift to the existing models.
